Draw This Again: Original by Anarkeru Draw This Again: Original by Anarkeru
My current account: :iconfishiebug:

EDIT: guys please no more "the old one is better/I personally like the old one more" comments, I know it's mainly because of the style change and it's just your opinion but it still kinda makes me feel bad and I don't want to disable comments.

NOTE: I could've drawn this in an anime style since I do still draw anime but I felt that a more stylistic style will allow me to show my progression in color and shading. I do plan on entering again with an anime style remake.

I really didn't want to upload this to my old account but apparently I have to since this is the account where the old deviation is.

The first face looks more loose and free, no offence but try and make the face a little less upturned.

I prefer the newer one. Even if you had done it in a more animeish style or more realistic style I would have still liked it more... It's awesome to see how you improved on the colors and shading.. You also seem more confident in the lines and stuffs :)

Nothing wrong with anime at all;what makes a picture "better" is improvement. That's why #2 shines through.

I don't understand why people are still commenting saying they like the old one better after the artist wrote about it in the description. Also, anime or realism aside, the second shows much improvement in color choice, lighting, shading, perspective, anatomy - the list goes on. I know that some people prefer anime style to a more realistic style, but I don't think that's what this meme is about. It's rather an artist's improvement in technique and skill application.

The after one is beautiful. You've developed such a good technique, and the colours and style are amazing. One can really see the improvements, and personally I'm glad you're moving a bit away from the anime style, but that's just my taste.

I think they're both great, in their own ways. I mean, they're very different styles, but those styles are done very, very well. they really can't be compared much.
you nailed both styles, in my opinion.

People are saying the first one is better?! It's no doubt good, but the second one had the cuteness of anime and realism too. A great improvement on your style I'd say.

I really don't understand how people say the old one is better. The lineart is much messier, and the anatomy, clothing folds, etc. looks hardly proportionate.

I LOVE your new one. :) The soft colours look so beautiful!

don't listen to them girl, awesome improvement. Great choice of an old piece too since you showed how you improved in perspective, color, and anatomy. This has nothing to do with style, honestly anime or not proportions are there.

Amazing improvement! You fixed the perspective of her figure and the tiles. There's saturation where the light hits her and desaturation in the shadows. During that time frame you also must have learned about accents, you put just the right amount to suggest the hair's shine and the movement in the fabric. Great job!

They are both very good but I do prefer the second one it looks more defined and the colours are better, nicely blended and great shading in the right places. I am intrigued to see how you have progressed with anime. Well done, great progression. :D

Wow, I think this is really good. I like this image because it shows not only a skill progression, but a style growth as well. The first picture is, as other said, very generic, typical anime. The new image clearly shows a more realistic approach but still rooted in the original animation interest. Everything in the second one looks more natural and soft. My ONLY critique would be in the bangs, they are a bit more anime looking than I think the rest of the image, and maybe less square cuts would look more realistic. Still, you have your own style, and I think that is the most important progression any artist can make.
